Join the AK mailing lists
AK has three mailing lists for members to keep up-to-date with the rowing club's activities.
If you are not a member but would like to contact the club, use the contact information at the bottom of the page.
Every member should be subscribed to akwholeclub, which is for admin and mailing of interest to the entire club.
Men's and women's squads have their own lists - akmen and akwomen - for training details. If you join these lists please also join akwholeclub.
You can only send mail to the list if you are a member of the list.

Once a member of the list, anyone can post but please remember the golden rule: if it's neither interesting, helpful nor side-splitting, don't send it.
How to change your settings: A lot of people are using the list to email to just one person because they don't have that person's email address. There are now over 100 email addresses on the list that get all those emails. Yahoo groups has the functionality for you to email a specific person in the group and not the rest of the group.
You can also do other things such as access the messages on the web and also post messages to the group on the web which can be useful if you don't want to subscribe your work email to the list but occasionally want to send a mail to the group from work.
Changing email options
You can also set up your options so that you only get one email from the group a day with that day's messages or that you don't get any emails at all and just read the messages on the web.
The instructions below tell you how to do it.
Step 1 - get a Yahoo ID - if you already have one then go onto step 2
- go to http://groups.yahoo.com
- click on the "click here to register" link on the left hand side
- fill in the registration form as appropriate. Make sure that the "Alternate Email" that you specify is the one which you are subscribed to the akwholeclub list on.
- when you have finished registering, there will be a big link to go back to the Yahoo groups page. Click on it to go back. Or just go to http://groups.yahoo.com
Step 2 - link your Yahoo ID with your egroups account
- go to http://groups.yahoo.com
- click on the link on the left hand side for egroups members "Link your accounts to a Yahoo ID here"
- use the second option "don't have a password/forgotten your password" and fill in the email address on which you are subscribed to the akwholeclub list and click "continue"
- a screen will then come up saying that you will be emailed an authorisation code. Wait for this email to arrive and follow the instructions on it to link your egroups account with your Yahoo ID.
Step 3 - login to Yahoo groups and send an email to one individual
- go to http://groups.yahoo.com
- login with your Yahoo ID click on akwholeclub in the "My groups" list
- click on the members link to see a list of all members
- click on the person that you want to mail - an email form will appear which allows you to send mail to them (it will appear to have come from your own email address)
Other useful links include the "messages" (view message archive) and "post" (send message to whole group) links on the left and the "My groups" link in the top left (allows you to edit how you receive emails) and the "My preferences" link (allows you to add alternative email addresses for yourself onto the group).
