Burns Night ceilidh
Saturday, 11 February, 6pm
Come and toast the haggis and kick up your heels at AK’s Burns Night ceilidh.
You’ll be treated to a formal ode to the haggis with bag-piping by AK’s very own Ronald Cheape and a wee dram of whisky to show your respects. And after a three-course meal, you’ll get to dance the night away to the heady strains of the “Ceilidh Liberation Front”.
Don’t know how to strip the willow? Doesn’t matter! There’ll be a caller to keep us all in line.

AK quad takes on Olympic champion for Norwegian TV
On Saturday an AK quad -- Ali Boileau, Hugh Mackworth-Praed, Harry Powell and Nick Hubbard -- raced against current Olympic 1x champion Olaf Tufte, Bjørn Jostein Singstad, from the Norwegian national squad, and Thomas and Harald from Norwegian TV, one of whom had his arm in a sling and the other had never rowed before, all in the name of entertainment.
An epic race ensued from Chiswick Eyot to the AK flag pole and despite a five-length head start for the Norwegians, AK won by three quarters of a length.
We wish Olaf better luck when he returns to London later in 2012.

Port & Stilton Christmas Party

We will be celebrating Christmas in customary style with our annual Port & Stilton party. Bernard Wills has generously offered to provide the port; Jo and Derna will be organising a festive buffet - help on the day appreciated.
