AK squads
Senior squads
Our men’s and women’s squads train and compete in
a variety of boats. All take
part in local head races and regattas and our top crews aspire to compete at
Henley. Our senior squad is
currently around IM2/3 standard and actively looking for new members who wish
to train and compete hard while holding down a job and having a social
life.
Our training is structured around 2-3 land
training sessions on weekday evenings and Saturday and Sunday morning water
sessions. It’s preferable but not
compulsory that weeknight training is done at the club. We also train on calmer non-tidal waters
to develop skill and confidence at sculling. For those competent in small boats there are group outings on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (6am on the water).
We’re coached by a variety of volunteers
with extensive experience and success at high-level regattas.

Single scullers and veterans
We have a number of experienced
rowers who row independently and in self-organised groups. Limited racking
space is available for single sculls, while club pairs, doubles, fours and quads
are also available for use. Contact squad
Beginners’ squad
If you’re new to rowing, our beginners’ squad provides a relaxed introduction to the sport with one or two on-the-water outings a week and optional fitness sessions alongside the senior squads. Beginners are welcome to join throughout the year. Contact beginners squad
Coxes
We are always on the look out for new coxes; whether experienced or completely new to the sport. If you’re new to coxing, we’ll take you through the basics and get you out practicing on the water with an experienced coach at your side. Contact us for more information
Other members
Our club is run by volunteers, with most of our coaches being former members of the main squads. There are many opportunities for non-rowing members to join in club activities. Contact us for more information
