AURIOL KENSINGTON ROWING CLUB
Tony Levis
It is with much sadness that we have to report the untimely death of Tony Levis.

Tony collapsed and died on the evening of Thursday November 28th. He was 56.

He joined Auriol Rowing Club while still a pupil at Latymer School and served as captain for a year and was last in action in October's Veteran Fours' Head.

Some 15 past and present club members attended his funeral at St Luke's Church in Kew on Monday 9th December. Stan Collingwood gave one of the tributes and described bringing Tony down to the club, Auriol then, in 1960.

Outside the church door Colin Chaney explained how he had helped to teach Tony to steer by sitting him between his legs in the cox's seat. Later at the reception Stan recounted that he had lost the captain's election by one vote to Tony in 1973.

Tony's widow, Pru, is very keen to see a boat named after Tony and asked that those outside the immediate family made a donation to AK towards the Tony Levis rather than buying flowers.

If you would like to make a donation please give cheques, made payable to AKRC, to John Culnane, Bernard Wills, Fiona Richmond or Phil Taylor. Please write Tony Levis on the back of your cheque.
