Hello, from AK Women’s Squad

The Women’s Squad at Auriol Kensington Rowing Club consists of up to 50 women, allowing us to regularly get three 8’s out on the water. We cater for a wide variety of skill levels, from rowers stepping up from the development squad (and learn to row) to rowers pushing to qualify at Henley Women’s Regatta while balancing life & work. We also have a wide range of ages within the squad giving us a competitive edge not only in Club and Development divisions, but in Masters divisions too.

Throughout the season we split our squad into smaller groups, focussing on 4s and pairs early in the season before targeting summer regattas and larger end of season races in 8's and 4's. Our milestone races comprise WEHoRR, Four’s Head & Henley Women’s Regatta.

A huge part of AK life is the social aspect on and off the water. Not only do we want to train hard to be competitive, but we want to have fun while we do it!

TRAINING

At AK, we are strong believers of what you put into training, you will get out. We have positioned ourselves as a squad to cater for both competitive and social rowers. To be competitive, expect to train most days. In non-Covid times, we are on the water 2 evenings a week, Saturday afternoons, as well as some Sunday mornings. Our Coach has a well balanced erg programme that we follow which consists of 2 ergs a week. Our Coach has also developed a circuit programme which can be done during the squad session or in your own time during the week.
